Understanding historic landfill maps

Historic landfill sites are places where records of waste being received to be buried are now closed or covered.

The information is held by local authorities, the former Department of the Environment, the British Geological Society and the Environment Agency.

The pink areas show the boundaries of known historic landfill sites within England.
